Farming skulled Revenants in Old School RuneScape doesn't have to mean risking millions or constantly dying to PKers. With the right setup, you can safely skull up, kill Revenant Orcs efficiently, and still risk well under 400k-even less than 200k if you're just getting started. This guide breaks down the cheapest and most effective low-risk skulled Revenants method currently available, while still delivering impressive RuneScape gold per hour.
Requirements and Why They Matter
At a minimum, this method requires 66 Ranged, 50 Hunter, and 43 Prayer, with 50 Hunter being mandatory. For smoother trips and better survivability, 70+ Ranged, 40+ Defence, and higher Prayer levels are strongly recommended. The higher these stats are, the more forgiving the setup becomes-especially when tanking PKers.
Gear Setup: Cheap, Powerful, and Low Risk
The gear setup is intentionally simple and affordable while maximising damage and magic defence. The core items include black dragonhide body and chaps, snakeskin boots and bandana, a black dragonhide shield, Ava's accumulator, and a bracelet of Ethereum charged with at least 50 ether.
The centrepiece of the setup is the Hunter Sunlight Crossbow, an upgraded version of the Hunter's Crossbow that requires 66 Ranged and 50 Hunter. Despite costing only around 6,000 GP, it fires on a three-tick attack speed, has excellent accuracy, and requires no ether to use. Its bolts cost roughly 31 GP each and have the same strength bonus as dragon arrows. When paired with an Amulet of Avarice, the crossbow gains an additional 20% damage and accuracy bonus, making it shockingly effective for its price.
Protect Item is always active, ensuring your Amulet of Avarice stays safe. Even fully geared, the total risk of the setup sits at around 188k GP, which is exceptionally low for skulled Wilderness content.
Inventory Setups: Budget vs Survival
Two inventory setups work well depending on your experience level.
The budget option is extremely cheap and ideal for players new to the Revenant Caves or learning how to tank PKers. It includes blighted super restores, a standard ranging potion, antivenom, manta rays, and karambwans. This setup costs roughly 28k GP in supplies, bringing the total risk to just over 200k GP.
The recommended setup focuses on survivability. It replaces antivenom with sanfew serums, which act as both super restores and poison cures. Alongside these, you'll bring blighted restores, a divine bastion potion for a long-lasting Ranged and Defence boost, a phoenix necklace for emergency healing, Saradomin brews, and high-healing food such as marlin and halibut. Optional vengeance sacks are extremely useful if you have access to Lunar spells, as they discourage PKers and can help secure escapes.
Even with all of these upgrades, total risk stays around 380-400k GP, which is still very low for the level of survivability provided.
Prayers, Pre-Potting, and Wilderness Safety
Before entering the Revenant Caves, always activate Protect Item and Protect from Magic. This ensures any teleport block you receive is a half-duration block rather than a full one, dramatically improving your chances of escaping.
Pre-potting with a divine bastion, stamina potion, and prayer regeneration potion helps stabilise early trips. Players with access to a chugging barrel can simplify this process, but standard pre-potting works just fine.
Killing Revenants Efficiently
Revenant Orcs melt under this setup, even without high-tier prayers like Rigour. The prayer drain from Rigour is often not worth it here, as kills are already fast and restores are limited. Most super restore drops are noted, so prayer management matters.
Thanks to the Amulet of Avarice, all drops are noted, meaning you can freely dump everything into buy OSRS gold your looting bag without micromanagement. This significantly boosts GP per hour and reduces downtime.
